This piece was an exploration of stepping outside of my classical Bharatanatyam training to hone a more Indian Contemporary style of movement.
For the second year, when a breast cancer survivor approached me to collaborate for breast cancer awareness month, I was honored for the opportunity to inspire through dance. This song goes out to all the caretakers, family and friends that stand by those fighting for their lives to do whatever they can to help in big ways and small. It is a reminder that there is so much strength and power in each of us if we stand together and support one another.

I came across this beautiful song by ShiShi & Azuria Sky and was inspired to create an empowering piece.

When a breast cancer survivor approached me to collaborate for breast cancer awareness month, I was honored for the opportunity to create something for all those who have, are and will face this horrible disease. Using the Bharatanatyam vocabulary, I wanted to give life to the powerful lyrics to remind women of their inner strength during hard challenging times.
Song: Fight Song by Rachel Platten
This piece was an inquiry into the ways in which we restrict ourselves because of how we want to be perceived in our communities. In the South Asian community, the expectations of others and “log kya kahenge?” play a dominant role in shaping the way we think, act and behave. At times, these “chains” force us to remain confined in a world others have created for us rather than building and creating a life that we love. Collaborating with my dear friend, Michelle Ranavat, we explored this work using kathak and ballet movements to depict the feeling of otherness we often feel from the world around us.

Created in honor of Mother’s Day, this work of spoken poetry was my first attempt at adding movement to bring the written word to life.

Growing up with the dramatic facial expressions of Madhuri Dixit, I have always had a special love for Bollywood. Below are some of the pieces I have created dance covers to.
